Meet Team USA: Women’s Gymnastics

Gabby Douglas:

20 year old Gabby Douglas returns to Rio to defend her 2012 All-Around Individual Gold Medal. Gabby is known for clean vaults and floor routines, but it is her skills on the uneven bars that guaranteed Gabby her spot on the 2016 Olympic Women’s Gymnastics team. Gabby often struggles on Balance Beam, but her difficulty levels and clean execution on Floor, Vault, and Uneven Bars keep her in the running for that All-Around title again.

Laurie Hernandez:

16-year old Laurie Hernandez, representing my home state of New Jersey, just advanced to the Senior level this year and has amazed everyone with her skill and composure on her journey to Rio this year. Laurie is also in the running for an All-Around medal, placing 2nd, behind Simone Biles, at the U.S. Olympic Trials in San Jose last month.

Madison Kocian:

19-year old Madison Kocian wasn’t guaranteed a spot on the 2016 Olympic team, but her consistent performance on the Uneven Bars over the past 2 years and at the Trials in San Jose last month earned her a place on the new Fierce Five women’s gymnastics team headed to Rio this week.

Aly Raisman:

22-year old Aly Raisman joins her London 2012 teammate Gabby Douglas in her return to the Olympic field this August in Rio. Aly hopes to help Team USA bring home Team Gold again and defend her 2012 Gold medal on Floor.

And of course, Simone Biles:

19-year old Simone Biles currently dominates Women’s Gymnastics. Biles has been the US National All-Around Champion for the last 4 years, as well as the World All-Around Champion for the past 3 years. She holds 10 World Gold medals, 2 Silver medals, and 2 Bronze medals, the most World medals any female gymnast has ever earned. Biles is slated to take the Individual All-Around Gold at Rio, and lead Team USA to Team Gold as well. This powerhouse is the girl to watch this August!
